Descriere
Anuarul societatii prahovene de antropologie generala. Yearbook of Prahova Country Society for General Anthropology - In honorem magistri Gheorghita Geana
Editite bilingva: romana-engleza
I thought that in your article ["Ethnicity and globalisation. Outline of a complementarist conceptualisation", in Social Anthropology (EASA journal, vol. 5, part 2, 1997)] you were absolutely correct to warn against approaching complicated social issues with dichotomous categories (e.g. globalization / locality, or Gemeinschaft / Gesellschaft, etc., etc.). It was an important insight that I learned early on from my teacher and very good friend, Professor Edward Shils. Would that more scholars appreciated your point! - Steven Grosby, Clemson University, South Carolina
I met Gheorghita Geana on a couple of occasions and was very impressed by him. I also read his autobiographical chapter in the Mateoc / Ruegg collection [Recalling Fieldwork, LIT Verlag, 2020]. It is a fascinating contrast to the majority of contributions to that book, which are the work of Western anthropologists. - Gheorghita Geana
