Ez a szotar mintegy 35 000 cimszot es kifejezest tartalmaz kulonbozo szakteruletekrol (nyelveszet, tortenelem, foldrajz, biologia, orvostudomany, tarsadalomtudomanyok, termeszettudomany, haditudomany, szamitastechnika, matematika stb.). A szerzoknek es a kiadonak az volt a celja, hogy olyan keziszotart tegyen a munkaasztalra, amely szeles erdeklodesre szamito, gyakorlati es hasznos informaciokat tartalmazo eszkoz lehet mind a magyarul, illetve angolul mar beszelok, mind e ket nyelvet tanulni ohajtok koreben.
E szotarban talalhato kifejezesek megfelelnek a mai irodalmi nyelvhasznalatnak, lexikalis, fonetikai, nepi, arhaikus, dialektikus stb. valtozatok nelkul.

This dictionary contains about 35.000 words and expressions selected from a wide range of fields (linguistics, history, biology, medicine, social sciences, natural science, military, computer science, mathematics etc.) and represents the accomplishment of the will and effort of the team of this publishing company to bring forth a publication of great significance which stands for a useful and practical means of information for both English and Magyar speakers. as well as for the ones who wish to improve their knowledge about these two languages.  The items inlaid in this dictionary arc the ones used in the present-day literary language excluding any lexical, phonetic. archaic or dialectical versions whatsoever.  The word-frequency criterion was taken into account when elaborating this English-Magyar-English dictionary so that the headwords as well as the idioms (selected in order to contribute to a clearer comprehension of the actual meaning of the terms) should cover the range of every day conversation and that they could easily be translated in both languages.
