Sorin Scurtulescu: Italian paintings

This publication is the first monograph of the Romanian artist Sorin Scurtulescu has established himself as one of the preeminent painters of his generation. The works were made in Italy during the Vasile Pârvan and Nicolae Iorga Fellowships at the Romanian Academy in Rome and at the Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research Venice, obtained with the support of the Romanian state.In 2013, the Museum of Art Timișoara mounted his first solo exhibition with the paintings made in Rome. In 2016 he also had a solo exhibition at Jecza Gallery, Timișoara with the Italian Paintings made in studio. In 2018 he had two solo exhibitions at Romanian Institute of Culture and Humanistic Research and Totem-Il Canale Gallery, with the paintings made in Venice. At Interart Triade Foundation, Timișoara, in 2019, Scurtulescu’s Venice paintings were placed in a dialogue with works by Constantin Flondor.This book unites 156 works from the last ten years.
