About the Author: Kahlil Gibran (January 6, 1883-April 10, 1931) A Lebanese-American poet, novelist, and essayist, Gibran's lyrical writings offer a blend of philosophy, religion, mysticism, and parable. Gibran was born in Lebanon and immigrated with his family to the United States in 1895. He was educated in Beirut and studied art in Paris. He later returned to the United States and set down roots in New York City, where he stayed for the rest of this life.
