The culture outside his home wasn't much better either for learning about happy and thriving marital relationships. Sex was a celebrated accomplishment among young men, and shallow dating, acts of kindness, and words of affirmation would be used as tactics to achieving it versus building up each other's spirit and character for a lasting relationship. But years later, while serving in the Air Force, dating came to a crossroad, and the decisions Carnell made would now affect others.
