The resilience they inherited from their native lands enabled them to prosper and thrive in the New World. Chris Bevenio's new book Resilience traces the origins of how these Southern Italians developed this characteristic. The book begins its story 3000 years ago, explaining how Sicilians and Calabrians evolved into today's southern Italians; and how they gained a multi-cultural strength unique to the world's population. Over a period of 18 months, the author conducted research and interviewed more than 100 contemporary Calabrians gathering their real-life stories.
