Sometimes, minimal planning creates the greatest rewards. Alistair needed to get his life back on track and the answer came unexpectedly, in the form of a challenge - to explore Britain, with two friends, on a 13 day cycling adventure. He didn't own a bike, but luckily, his brother was working out of town and had one in his garage. Painted racing green, with wide wheels and a robust frame, it was far from perfect for such a trip. But it was free With limited training, an out of date map and no thought to book ahead, the scene was set for a wayward adventure. The three friends set off from Land's End on the hottest day of summer, with John O'Groats in their sights. Along the way they discovered a secret short cut, went in search of the remaining Beatles and survived a storm in the Scottish Highlands. Occasionally they got lost, but time and time again, were helped out by a variety of friendly, kind and quirky characters that they encountered along the way.
