About the Author Richard J. Severson is an ethicist by training, earning his Ph. D. in religion and ethics from the University of Iowa. For most of his 29-year career in higher education Severson was a librarian. He also taught numerous classes in philosophy, religion, and ethics. Severson is the author of Time, Death, and Eternity (1995) and The Principles of Information Ethics (1997).
