Jones is President of the Kennesaw Historical Society, as well as well as a member of the executive board of the Kennesaw Museum Foundation, which helped fund the 40, 000 square foot Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Kennesaw, GA. Robert has written a number of books on Civil War and railroad themes, including Retracing the Route of Sherman's Atlanta Campaign, A Guide to the Civil War in Georgia, and Great Naval Battles of the Civil War.
