She has collected stories and information from family, friends, and newspapers to write about this important journey undertaken by her family. Neimane has a bachelor's degree in medical technology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. For seventeen years, she lived in Switzerland, where she worked in the medical and research fields. Now a mother and grandmother, Neimane lives in Vermont. Extensive research into her family's genealogy led her to write Flight from Latvia, her first book.
