About the Author: Willa Cather (1873-1947) grew up in Nebraska, but moved to Pittsburgh, where she lived for a decade. At the age of 33, she moved to New York, and spent the rest of her life there. She won the Pulitzer Prize in 1923 for her novel One of Ours.
