As a young seminarian, Lucjan Kr likowski, who was accepted into the Franciscan Order by St Maximilian Kolbe, was arrested by the NKVD and deported to labor camps in Northern Siberia. Leaving the Soviet Union with the Polish army of General Anders, he studied for the priesthood in Lebanon. He was sent to work in East Africa, where he ministered to Polish children in a Displaced Peoples Refugee Camp, in Tengeru. After the war he adopted 150 Polish orphaned children and brought them to Canada. He worked for many years in radio ministry in Western New York and currently lives in New England. He has been awarded many honors for his work with the children. "A Franciscan Odyssey" is a new version of his popular memoir written in Polish.
