She has written two other books about veterans in the WWII Legacies series: They Did It for Honor: Stories of American WWII Veterans (Book 2); and We Gave Our Best: American World War II Veterans Tell Their Stories (Book 3).About the Author After interviewing 250 WWII vets during the past decade, Kayleen Reusser, a 25-year writing professional, has written a series of books of stories told to her from GIs- male and female. Her books We Fought to Win: American World War II Veterans Share Their Stories, They Did It for Honor: Stories of American WWII Veterans, and We Gave Our Best: American World War II Tell Their Stories. After completing a 10-day WWII tour of Europe, Reusser has developed a presentation that she has given to hundreds of people with photos of places American vets served, including foxholes in Belgium used during the Battle of the Bulge, tanks used in the war, Hitler's retreat called Eagle's Nest, Dachau prison camp and more. She has published stories about veterans in magazines and newspapers. As a former middle school librarian, Reusser has also written 16 non-fiction books for middle grade readers.
