This moving story explores how World War I affected not only men at the Front but also their loved ones at home, who were unable to understand what they were going through. Edmund and Lilian Potter live in the Devonshire village of Halberton. In August 1914 Edmund is among the first eager volunteers to enlist, to Lilian's dismay.
