In aftermath of World War II, the veterans have failed to come home. They've moved onto greener pastures, rejecting the local women, who served the war effort in the Scientific Kitchen of Margaret Mill. Henry Collins, the founder of the mill creates Sweetwheats, the all-girl baseball team, convincing the girls that this will get them husbands.
